For the best fitting custom tailored suit you should measure with body measurements and with finished measurements. Body measurements are direct measurements of your body. Finished measurements are taking directly from a suit that fits you best. It is recommended that you wear your best fitted suit when making your measurements.

Using the RH Custom Suits Measurement Form, start your measurements:

  1. Jacket length in front - Measure from the lower collar seam to the length required, typically the low point is to where your knuckles are with your arms hanging down in a natural position. More trendy cuts are with jacket lengths that are shorter.
  2. Jacket length in back - Measure from the lower collar seam to the length required down the middle of the back of the jacket. Typically to about an inch below the hips, covering the seat.
  3. Coat Length - (Optional) - Only for long coats, not required for suits
  4. Vest - (Optional) - if you have requested a vest
  5. Chest - Measure around the body directly under the arm pits. This should be snug, but not tight. A finger should be betweent he tape measure and chest.
  6. Stomach -  Measure around the widest part of the stomach, do not hold you stomach in
  7. Waist - Measure around the waistline at the height at which you wear your pants
  8. Hips -  Mesure around the hips at the widest point of the seat . There should be enough space for one index finger between the measurement.
  9. Full shoulder - Measure across the back from the outside of one should to the other
  10. Back - Measure across the back from joining on one arm to joining of the other
  11. Sleeves - Measure sleeves from the sholder seam to the length required, typically the the length should go to the base of the thumb, located at the wrist joint. Measure both sleeves in case they are different.
  12. Front - Measure across the chest from the joining of one arm to joining of the other.
  13. Biceps - Measure around the fullest part of the biceps 
  14. Thighs - Measure around the thigh at the widest point. Leaving space for one index finger.
  15. Trousers U Crutch - Measure from the top of the waistband to the front to the top of the waist band in the back.
  16. Trousers length - Measure from the top of the waist line to the bottom of the cuff. Typically where the leather meets the base of the show.
  17. Inseam - Measure from the lowest part of the crotch to the desired length, typically it will cover a little bit of the shoe.Typically about a half inch from the floor.
  18. Trouser Cuff - Measure around the ankle. You may measure a pair of finished pants. 17"-19" is typical. 19" or larger on a finished measurement is a boot cut.
  19. Knee - Measure around the leg two inches above the knee.
  20. Biceps - Measure around the fullest part of the biceps, in a relaxed state, do not flex.
  21. Wrist - Measure around the wrist adding 1/2 inch for a watch
